Georgia Efforts to Improve Quality of Clinical Trial Search Tool Noted in IOM Report

7/30/2010

In 2010, the IOM published its report on clinical trials that was requested and funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The report contains goals and recommendations aimed at improving the design and conduct of trials; incorporating innovative science into trials; improving trial selection and support; and incentivizing patient and physician participation in trials. The report also mentions Georgia’s effort to make the clinical trials search engine more regional, accurate and up-to-date. Though the report is aimed at improving the NCI Cooperative Group Program, the analysis and recommendations are applicable to the clinical trials system as a whole.
