Clark Atlanta University Center for Cancer Research receives $7.4 million NIH grant

The National Institutes of Health has awarded a $7.4 million grant to the Center for Cancer Research and Therapeutic Development at Clark Atlanta University.

School officials said in a statement Monday that the grant from the agency's National Institute on Minority Health Disparities will be used to recruit more scientists to build a competitive research center focused on health disparities associated with prostate cancer.

Officials say the money will also be used to expand the center's existing research initiatives.

Clark Atlanta President Carlton E. Brown says he considers the grant as a vote of confidence in the university from the NIH.
