Consultant

Philip Lamson is one of Georgia Tech’s Enterprise Innovation Institute’s senior consultants for health-related initiatives.  He served as the co-PI and integrated project director for the Georgia Department of Community Health’s ONC Challenge Grant, working with breast cancer patients in Rome, GA.  His current focus is with head and neck cancer and he is leading a project in Cartersville, GA.  Mr. Lamson possesses 40 years of healthcare management and consulting experience, with a focus on clinical operations and service line planning and development.  His current interests include consumer/patient engagement and the use of mobile communications and information technologies to support individuals, and their providers, in managing their health.

Phil started his career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Republic of Korea’s National Tuberculosis Control Project, followed by work at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  He spent 30 years at Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital in various administrative and executive capacities including ambulatory care, imaging, pathology, rehabilitation services, pulmonology, cardiology and oncology.  With a primary interested in oncology, Phil spearheaded a multi-institutional team in planning and implementing the Georgia Cancer Center for Excellence.  His consulting work includes stints with Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Radiation Oncology and the Georgia Cancer Coalition. Phil is a graduate of Sewanee: The University of the South, and received his Master of Business Administration degree from Georgia State University.
