Atlanta – Georgia CORE – the Center for Oncology Research and Education has awarded five scholarships to the Third Annual Cancer Genetics Workshop presented by DeKalb Medical’s Cancer Center on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Keynote speakers Steven Narod, M.D., a world leader in the field of breast and ovarian cancer genetics, and Tuya Pal, M.D., an epidemiology-based cancer genetics researcher, will share details and practical information based on decades of research in the field of cancer genetics.
A continuing medical education (CME) opportunity, the Genomics Workshop is inspired by the vision of medical oncologist Jayanthi “Dr. Jay” Srinivasiah, M.D., moderator and event chairperson, as a forum for doctors, nurses and patient navigators to exchange information on genetic screening, testing and treatment of patients and their families. It is designed for any healthcare provider who is involved with cancer patients and has an interest in incorporating cancer genetics into his or her practice.
“It is amazing to see people travel from fairly long distances to participate in this event,” said Dr. Srinivasiah. “I plan to enhance the cancer genetics workshop each year by adding more case presentations including genomics. I am truly indebted to the support given by our cancer support team and physicians in the DeKalb Medical community, and to Georgia CORE for sponsorship of and scholarships to this event.”
