Campaign is spreading the word about GeorgiaCancerInfo.org

8/20/2012

In early 2012, Georgia CORE launched the nation’s first statewide online information center for cancer research and care, GeorgiaCancerInfo.org. Georgia CORE’s goal is to have at least one resident in every Georgia household view the site. In addition to publicity efforts being made with the news media, GeorgiaCancerInfo.org is being promoted through such channels as a print ad in Atlanta Magazine’s recent Top Doctors edition, banner ads on WSBTV.com, and interactive ads on Facebook. Partners, hospitals and cancer centers have also been helpful and collaborative by not only including mentions in their publications, but also posting a link to the site from theirs. “We are calling on Georgia healthcare professionals, patients, survivors and their families to use GeorgiaCancerInfo.org, and to encourage their friends and peers to do so,” said Thomas E. Seay, MD, PhD of Atlanta Cancer Care and Chairman of Georgia CORE. “The ads and promotions are helping, but there is nothing as powerful as word of mouth.” GeorgiaCancerInfo.org has been made possible by our founding partners – the Georgia Research Alliance and GASCO. Additionally, Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah and Alliant | GMCF have joined our generous sponsors that support the awareness campaign – Varian, Emory University School of Medicine Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Aflac, Morehouse School of Medicine, Northside Hospital Cancer Institute, and Genentech.
