Georgia Cancer Summit Purpose:

The goal of the 2025 Georgia Cancer Summit is to catalyze efforts to promote cancer health equity and reduce the burden of cancer in Georgia. Summit participants will:

  1. Learn how to apply health equity as an integral strategy for cancer prevention, control and research
  2. Learn best practices to advance cancer research, prevention and control throughout Georgia
  3. Hear about healthcare challenges facing rural and under-resourced Georgia communities and how public health and academic leaders are working to serve all communities
  4. Be able to network with other organizations that may lead to new partnerships

Identify ways your organization can get more involved in advancing Georgia’s comprehensive cancer control objectives.

Nomination Form - James A. Hotz, MD, Award for Championing Cancer Health Equity in Georgia: The James A. Hotz, MD, Award for Championing Cancer Health Equity in Georgia recognizes an individual or group who demonstrates outstanding leadership in the state of Georgia to reduce cancer disparities, promote cancer health equity, build partnerships, and advocate for access and quality cancer prevention, early detection, and care for all. Nominations are due December 9, and the awardee will be announced at the Georgia Cancer Summit.

Lawmakers conclude listening tour on access to cancer care

Rep. Lee Hawkins, R-Gainesville, the committee’s chairman, said he and other lawmakers are working on drug pricing and other issues. He wrapped up the committee’s listening tour by saying the General Assembly will continue to study cancer care access.
