The Elements of Lymphedema Management for Cancer Survivors

Lymphedema is a condition characterized by chronic swelling that can affect various parts of the body and is often a side-effect of cancer treatment. This webinar will highlight the types and causes of lymphedema as well as offer a brief anatomic overview of the lymphatic system. Participants will also learn about lymphedema signs & symptoms, lymphedema treatment options, compression garment options, lymphedema risk reduction guidelines, and alternative treatments. This webinar will also detail the importance of early diagnosis and treatment to aid in successful management.

Dr. Crystal A. Champion, PT, DPT, CLT-ALM, Cert. DN, is a physical therapist, a certified lymphedema therapist, and owner of Eminence Physical Therapy, LLC. Dr. Champion has a special interest in oncology rehabilitation and was instrumental in developing the oncology rehabilitation program and the outpatient lymphedema treatment program for a major hospital system in Atlanta.

Dr. Champion was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 and has seen friends and family suffer the physical effects of breast cancer and treatment. She is the founder and executive director of Champions Can! Foundation for Cancer Wellness, Inc., a nonprofit that promotes and advocates for cancer survivorship. She is also a co-author of the book The Elements of Cancer Survivorship: A Guide to Navigating the Journey, which aims to guide people and their families through their cancer journey.
