Dr. Debora Bruno is a board-certified medical oncologist and physician-scientist specializing in thoracic malignancies, including lung cancer, mesothelioma, and thymic tumors. She currently serves as Medical Director of Clinical Research and Thoracic Medical Oncologist at City of Hope Cancer Center – Atlanta, where she leads efforts to expand access to cutting-edge clinical trials and precision oncology in the southeastern United States.
Originally from Fortaleza, Brazil, Dr. Bruno earned her M.D. from the Federal University of Ceará School of Medicine and completed an M.S. in Cancer Biology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She trained in Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center (Philadelphia) and completed fellowships in Hematology/Oncology and Transfusion Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Before joining City of Hope, Dr. Bruno served as Director of Thoracic Medical Oncology and Medical Director of the Dahms Clinical Research Unit at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center and the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She has been instrumental in developing investigator-initiated and cooperative-group studies, with a particular emphasis on biomarker-driven trials and equitable access to next-generation therapies.

Her research interests include precision medicine, next-generation sequencing in advanced lung cancer, and strategies to reduce disparities in biomarker testing and clinical trial participation. Dr. Bruno has authored and co-authored more than one hundred peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and book chapters.
