Georgia Breast Cancer Coalition
My husband and I are both Cancer survivors. He lost a kidney to Kidney Cancer in 1982 and I developed Stage Two Breast Cancer in 1989 and had a Mastectomy ( with chemotherapy ) and then had a recurrence in 1992 ( with Radiation). I tolerated both treatment protocols well, but emotionally I had changed.
I made a promise to myself and to my family that I would do everything in my power to learn about this dreaded disease and prevent it from occurring in our lives. To that end, I have been engaged in a number of organizations that work diligently to eradicate Cancer in our lifetime.
I was a Founding Member and Past President of the Georgia Breast Cancer Coalition Fund, former member of The Health Strategies Council of Georgia and Coordinator of the Cancer Survivor Leadership Council of Georgia, which, unfortunately, is no longer functioning.
Today I am very happily serving as a member of Georgia’s Comprehensive Cancer Control ( GC3) Plan Steering Team and have served on the GC3 Survivorship working group since 2013. In 2014, I was invited to serve on the Georgia CORE Survivorship Advisory Board.
