The Central Georgia Cancer Coalition (CGCC)

supports and builds upon existing cancer programs and services. The organization's mission is to strengthen programs and services by elevating cancer efforts to the national standards of the American College of Surgeons, National Comprehensive Cancer Network, and the Association of Community Cancer Centers; reduce duplication among cancer related entities; leverage state dollars and maximize opportunities for private investment; adapt statewide efforts based on national standards to local communities; and reduce access disparities to treatment and services based on geography, race, and insurance status.

The Health Initiative

is an organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of lesbians and other members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community through education, advocacy, support and access to care. Founded in 1996, the Health Initiative is the largest non-profit organization in the southeast devoted solely to the health and wellness of LGBTQ people.

The Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support - Athens, GA

provides volunteer cancer survivors and professional staff members who offer insight and compassion to others on their cancer journey. The center offers information, education and emotional and spiritual support to cancer patients and their families in North Georgia. It serves as a resource for patients before, during and after cancer treatment by providing support groups, individual and family counseling and an educational resource library. Workshops, seminars, and individual classes are offered that address physical side effects of cancer treatment, psychosocial issues, spiritual concerns, complementary therapies and grief issues related to the death of a loved one. Endowed by the Athens Regional Foundation, all of the Center's services are available free of charge.

The Lydia Project

The Lydia Project provides free services to women and girls anywhere facing any type of cancer. This support includes ongoing correspondence and encouragement every month for at least twelve months. Locally, Lydia grants funds for rent, utility, medical supplies, and prescription assistance to women who are unable to afford these basic expenses while undergoing cancer treatment and who reside in Georgia's Burke, Columbia, McDuffie and Richmond Counties; and South Carolina's Aiken and Edgefield Counties.

TurningPoint Breast Cancer Rehabilitation

is a non-profit 501c3 healthcare organization that was established in 2003 in response to the unmet survivorship needs of women with breast cancer in Greater Atlanta. Since inception, TurningPoint has cared for over 2,000 women with breast cancer. TurningPoint’s clinic provides specialized and evidence-based rehabilitation for women with breast cancer, including physical therapy, massage therapy, counseling and nutritional counseling. The collaboration of clinical services provides each woman with hope, support and education in an atmosphere of wellness. Clinical expertise, compassion and state of the art rehabilitation care are cornerstones of TurningPoint. Staff members bring a passion to this field and many have been personally touched by breast cancer.
