Northside Hospital Hosts Free Community Workshop on Oncology Sexuality and Intimacy
2/08/2013
Just as a fight with cancer may strengthen relationships, it also can throw spousal roles and family dynamics for a loop. Changes in body image, as well as physical changes and other side effects to treatment, can affect both physical and emotional intimacy. The Northside Hospital Cancer Institute is hosting a free community workshop to help raise awareness of issues related to intimacy, sexuality and fertility, as they relate to cancer diagnosis and treatment. The free "Oncology Sexuality & Intimacy" workshop will take place Wednesday, Feb. 20, 12-2 p.m., at the Cancer Support Community – Atlanta.
Patients, survivors, spouses and other caregivers are encouraged to attend the workshop to learn that they’re not alone and what resources are available to help. Participants will be able to hear and ask questions from a panel of experts and exhibitors including:
•Sage Bolte, PhD, LCSW, OSW-C, oncology counselor
•Robert J. Straub, M.D., Reproductive Biology Associates
•Leah Kimbel, SSS certified, senior director, Pure Romance Intimacy Products and Education
•Rachel Newby, LMSW, program director, Cancer Support Community – Atlanta
•Susan Casella, RN C, OCN, breast health coordinator, Northside Hospital
•Renice Washington, FNP-C/CNS, oncology women’s services, Northside Hospital
