3/22/2013
On March 14, Georgia CORE president and CEO Nancy Paris joined three other speakers including former Governor Roy Barnes at the annual Georgia Research Breakfast of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. The Cancer Action Network is the non-partisan advocacy affiliate of ACS.
The 2013 ACS CAN Georgia Research Breakfast brought members of the corporate, medical and scientific communities together with legislators to inform and discuss the significance of cancer research and its impact on Georgia's public health and economy.
Governor Barnes keynoted the event, discussing how he helped launch a statewide focus on cancer research. Fortunately, many entities joined the fight against cancer in Georgia both during and after his leadership. Governor Barnes said, "The vast network that Georgia CORE has built is invaluable in that it marshals all of the cancer-focused efforts into a single force, enabling our state to be as effective as possible in providing quality care for our patients, while also helping to find a cure."
